On-site attendants also maintain, disinfect, and replenish consumables for other HAPPEE Services sanitary units within their designated area of responsibility.

HAPPEE Services follows the “Recommendations for the Rental of Mobile Dry Toilets and Associated Services” from the DLR, ensuring high-quality rental equipment, service, and hygiene standards.

CONSERVING WATER

Our individual dry toilets operate with zero water consumption. Organic waste (faeces and urine) is covered with wood chips. This layering system, known as “litter”, absorbs odours naturally. Each use of one of our dry toilets saves approximately 8 litres of water.

RECYCLING, SUSTAINABILITY & BIO-BASED MATERIALS

To reduce waste and support sustainable development, recycling, durability, and eco-design are at the heart of our R&D and production processes for eco-friendly sanitary units.

The birch wood used in our dry toilet range is gradually being replaced by a compact wood-effect material, composed of 65% natural wood fibres from sustainably sourced timber and recycled paper fibres. All supply sources are certified FSC® and PEFC, ensuring responsible forestry practices and long-term forest management in accordance with international standards. This material contains no halogenated organic compounds, asbestos, chemical treatments, sulphur, mercury, or cadmium. Designed to withstand harsh weather and high-traffic public spaces, its lifespan can exceed 50 years, verified by an Inies-checked FDES.

Our polyethylene dry toilets are 100% recyclable.
Our dry toilet caravans are repurposed from old recirculation units (20+ years old), fully dismantled and refurbished in our SWITTEC production workshop in Hauts-de-France, giving them a second life with Made-in-France expertise.

SUSTAINABLE CONSUMABLES

Committed to an overarching environmental approach, we focus on every detail:

• Toilet paper: Unbleached, made entirely from recycled food-grade cardboard, ECOLABEL certified

• Wood chips: Sourced from untreated softwoods in Northern Europe, supplied by Ecobox, a PEFC-certified company ensuring sustainable forest management

• Waste recycling: When composted or converted to biogas, waste is packaged in biodegradable maize-based bags, OKCOMPOST certified, 100% plant-based

COLLECTING AND VALUING URINE

To make your cultural, sporting, and music events as environmentally friendly as possible, we offer a unique and innovative urine collection service, transforming it into an agricultural bio-solution through our partner Toopi Organics.

In 2022, we supported 7 major events, collecting over 120 m³ of urine from dry urinals, keeping it out of the traditional wastewater cycle. This resulted in nearly 1,440 m³ of water saved and 5,000 hectares potentially fertilised with an eco-friendly solution approved for agricultural use.

We continue to support your environmental commitments, with our 2023 collection roadmap covering more than 60 engaged events.

VALUING SOLID WASTE

Organic waste from our dry toilets is converted into compost, biogas, or energy, based on three key criteria:

• Proximity: Waste treatment centres close to the HAPPEE Services agency or your event site, reducing CO₂ emissions from transport.

• Traceability: Centres capable of providing full documentation on the waste.

• Waste sorting capacity: Centres that can separate non-biodegradable elements before valorisation. This step is essential before composting, as dry toilets open to the public may contain non-biodegradable materials that must be removed to prevent contamination of agricultural land.
